Let’s talk about your immune system. It does a pretty bang up job keeping you healthy. It’ll defend your body against illness & diseases. But once in a while, it fails and you get sick from those darn germs. Do you think it’s possible to boost your own immune system?

We’ve studied it out and found some… rather interesting ideas on how to boost your immune system. We’ve weeded them all out and came up with a list of 3 Simple Hacks to boost your immune system that actually makes a difference.

  1. “Real food doesn’t have ingredients, real food is ingredients” – Jamie Oliver

Did you know that eating (or drinking) too much sugar limits your immune system cells that attack bacteria? That can affect your body for a few hours after downing that Dr Pepper. Dang oh dang! Take care of that gut of yours to keep your immune system running up to par.

Eat more fruits and vegetables, which are rich in nutrients like vitamins C and E. Go for a wide variety of brightly colored fruits and vegetables. Go ahead and taste the rainbow (no, not skittles).

2. “We try to sleep as much as possible” – Simone Biles

Lack of sleep makes you more likely to catch a cold. Say What? Not getting enough sleep can lead to higher levels of stress hormones and more inflammation in your body.

Getting enough – usually 7 to 9 hours for an adult – can help boost your immune system and reduce your stress. I call that a win-win.

3. “One step at a time. One punch at a time. One round at a time.” Rocky Balboa

That means exercise. Getting regular exercise (like a daily 30min walk) can help you fight infections. Exercise can also boost your body’s feel-good chemicals and help you sleep better. (another win-win!) If you don’t exercise regularly, you’re more likely to get colds. Take it one step at a time, it’ll be worth it.

If you try these hacks you’ll be able to tell those nasty germs… “C’mon, champ, hit me in the face! My mom hits harder than you!” – Rocky Balboa
